Strong/Gault Social Advancement Internship Grant Recipient
“Interning at the Percent for Art Program this summer was an invaluable experience. Additionally, I can honestly say that I would not have gotten as much out of the experience if I was not given the opportunity to work full time.”
My biggest accomplishment was that I got to a point where I felt like a really valuable member of the team and that what I was doing was truly helping them in a way that only I could offer. I learned everything that my supervisor and I had outlined on my learning agreement form, something I honestly did not think could be done. Because of her eagerness to teach me as well as my drive to explore new territories for me, we accomplished so much (they said I was the most productive intern they have ever had!). Additionally, I had an individual project to supplement my general work for them. My project was taking portraits of artists as well as interviewing them and turning the transcripts into blog posts. I had never interviewed anybody or created meaningful blog posts before, but these interview posts along with the other posts that I generated for the official Percent for Art tumblr page ended up being really far reaching for the agency as well as a really useful skill that I have developed.
