Ministry of Finance - Kingdom of Thailand

Project Description

Robert S. Goodfriend Summer Internship Fund Recipient

“These experiences helped me decide which economics field I want to pursue further, thus greatly impacting my career path in the future.”

Throughout my ten-week internship, I took part in producing the diagrams that were both published and presented to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, senior executives of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Bank of Thailand (BOT), and Thai Bond Market Association (ThaiBMA), as well as the targeted investors. During the first half of my internship, my first four diagrams were published in the Q4/FY2013 publication of PDMO (Public Debt Management Office). These diagrams were about the bond auction results classified by chronology, the bond auction results classified by tenor, total government debt profile (excluding foreign debt), and the impact of the well-developed bond market on the government direct debt profile. After succeeding in the first project, I was assigned to create diagrams to be presented in the confidential conferences with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, primary dealers (PDs) who are MOF (Ministry of Finance) preferred counterparty, and long-term investors (life insurance companies, Social Security Office, and Government Pension Fund) in order to support FY 2014 funding plan.
