Robert S. Goodfriend Summer Internship Fund Recipient
“Working for Special Events showed me the importance of the presentation of the company to our clients and also the strategy of building strong client (buyer and/or consigner) relationships.”
Although I worked in a small department, I often collaborated with individuals across the entire spectrum of the auction industry. In this way I made contacts with people in the fine art, business intelligence, management, human resources, operations, client services, and marketing departments. These contacts will be especially important as I continue to pursue a career in the auction industry and hopefully make the transition to Christie’s NY next summer. I was also able to network with Christie’s employees from NY when we assembled mock auctions and service outreach programs.
Living and working in Hong Kong was a challenging experience in many ways but it also provided an educational opportunity that showed me the inside of the art industry and helped me narrow my interests in the wide spectrum of the art world.
