Nikuradse-Matthews Summer Public Interest Fellowship
My internship in the New York office of Ubuntu Education Fund, a non-profit organization based in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, met and exceeded my expectations. I was able to gain a better understanding about and help out with the administration and fundraising of a non-profit. My work at Ubuntu allowed me to work with grant texts and donations on a daily basis. I was able to see how funds are raised for Ubuntu’s life-changing programs.
The office was a wonderful place to work, with constant email and video reminders of the meaningful work taking place in Port Elizabeth. I now know that I am interested in working in the non-profit sector. In addition, this summer has given me a greater desire to travel and experience Ubuntu Education Fund or a similar organization firsthand and in action.
