Project Description

Strong/Gault Social Advancement Internship Grant

“The experience was eye opening. In terms of my education, this internship provided me with real-world experience, to which I can relate the concepts I learn at Bowdoin.”

My work with the advocacy team taught me what goes into coalition building and community organizing; my work with the communications team taught me how to make complex ideas relatable; my work with the research team taught me the importance of candidness; and the experience of working with all three teams taught me what is required to coordinate such efforts. My accomplishments included: conducting the necessary research and preparatory work to assist advocates for reform at the state and local levels; drafting a campus outreach campaign plan for a statewide ballot initiative; and creating campus ranked choice voting implementation and advocacy toolkits, to help campuses adopt ranked choice voting for student elections.
