“I learned a lot about family law and the legal process, and also gained insight into the unique challenges that low-income individuals face.”
The VLP provides its interns with many opportunities to learn about the organization’s work and its clients. Through my work with VLP clients, my court observations and the VLP’s “Brunch and Learn” series, I learned a lot about family law and the legal process. I also gained insight into the unique challenges that low-income individuals face.
I spent the majority of my time at the VLP working on routine tasks (interviewing clients, coordinating client-attorney meetings at the Court House Assistance Project, entering data, etc.). In addition, I developed and conducted a client satisfaction survey, analyzed the results and created a list of recommendations for the VLP.
The VLP revived my interest in law, and helped me hone in on the specific areas of law I’m most interested in.
