Strong/Gault Social Advancement Internship Grant Recipient
“I still see myself working in the NGO sector abroad, but I am now more cognizant of the realities of what the jobs entail.”
At Universal Just Action Society (UJAS), I focused mostly on creating plans that could be implemented by the volunteer network and did not rely solely on interns/me. Thus, another intern and I proposed a new way of organizing the volunteers that would allow UJAS to expand beyond legal advocacy and into directly helping the migrant population through the creation of a network of Self Help Groups. Additionally I focused a lot on identifying grants to which UJAS could apply and creating proposals in preparation for their deadlines (most of which were after my time at the organization).
