Preston Public Interest Career Fund Recipient
“During my time in Atlanta I met a few challenges, numerous achievements, and a daily onslaught of outstanding and unique experiences.”
While working with the Social Adjustment department, I was able to make personal connections with clients as I helped them navigate the healthcare, education, and financial systems in America. When helping the caseworkers I was given the chance to pick and introduce newly arrived refugees to America. I gave first day orientation to a Congolese family of ten in French about their new home, brought them shopping, enrolled them in benefits, gave them a brief overview of the way things are done in America, and answered their questions and concerns. It was a unique experience to be their first face of America.
